Mindset Moment

Think about a mindset moment you have had in the past few days!

It can be academic or personal (sports, family, friends).

Remember Growth Mindset is when you know you can try harder – NOT giving up or doing the bare minimum.

Growth Mindset is when you want to keep learning!

Share your Growth Mindset moment on the blog.

Let’s Do More Exercise!!! Competition Time!

Do you LOOOOVE sport… Like being creative… Would like to win sports equipment for the school… Well, here’s your chance. Create a poster to try to get everyone more active and moving and we can win sports equipment for the school (it’s the same competition that the Eco Warriors won the scooter for the other year).  Don’t forget to be persuasive. Give any posters you make to your teacher and they will pass them on to us. It has to be done by the 30th of January.

Digital Learning Day Competition

As it is digital learning day today, we’ve decided to have competition. It can be absolutely anything – a keynote, Scratch game, iMovie, PowerPoint, Prezi… anything. And what’s more, it can be about anything you want; technology, dogs, space, football, ballet… anything. The due date will be after Easter and there will be a small prize.  Good luck!!!

Cracking Christmas Reads!

Why not curl up with a lovely book over the long Christmas holidays? In my opinion, it’s the best way to improve your English and have fun at the same time!

Ms Sayce is going to read The Night Before the Night Before Christmas (by Kes Grey) with her young son and  Ms Stenhouse is going to read The Constant Princess by Philippa Gregory (however this isn’t a children’s book). I’m not sure what to read, so please give me some suggestions.

Here is a list of recommended festive books.

Please tell us about what you read and why you liked it!

Christmas is Coming!!!

Ho, ho, ho!!! Here are our wonderful Y6 Reps, who helped us decorate the tree. Some of them have made decorations for the top (an angel, Santa, star… anything Christmassy), so why don’t you? We are trying to re-use materials to be eco-friendly, so get your thinking caps on and make a decoration.

Bring it to us in our office and the best ones will be put onto the tree (and get a purple form!)

Also, please tell us about what you are looking forward to most around Christmas time. And remember, it’s not just about receiving presents…  For example, I’m really looking forward to spending lots of time with my family and friends in England, as I don’t get to see them as often as I would like.

The New Eco Warriors 2018/19

The New Eco Warriors 2018/19

We were overwhelmed with the response to this year’s request for eco-warriors, receiving 87 entries in total from years 3 to 6! It is wonderful to see so many students passionate about the environment and wanting to make a difference. We had some fantastic entries, which made it hard to decide on the final winners, but we finally have our chosen 16, who will help the school to be greener this year and inspire others to do the same.
The eco-warriors for this year are: Mariia (3A), Alexandra  (3B), Sapphira  (3C), Alejandro  (3D), Lucia  (4A), Carolina (4B), Emma  (4C), Paloma  (4D), Rosa (5A), Amelie  (5A), Sara  (5B), Cristina  (5C), Lucia  (5D), Jason  (6A), Carmen (6C) and Claudia  (6D).
A big congratulations to our new eco-warriors for this academic year!

Are You Up For The Kindness Challenge?

So, how are you getting on with the challenge? Let us know what you have done and what positive effects it has had.

Welcome Back and Happy Roald Dahl Day!

Hi everyone,

I hope you’ve had a fantastic holiday! We are all very excited to see you all back at school and hope that you are all full of enthusiasm for the new school year.

Today, as you probably know, is Roald Dahl Day, so please let us know what your favourite Roald Dahl book is and why. I think mine is probably Charlie and the Chocolate Factory because it is full of humour, has a sprinkling of danger, lots of suspense and of course is a fabulously constructed story. I love both the movies that have been made too, however, I have a particular fondness for the old one due to watching it as a child.

So, which Roald Dahl book do you think is a real page-turner and you would highly recommend it to someone in your year group?

Happy blogging and remember to read the blog rules before writing a comment.

World Environment Day! What Can You Do?

Happy World Environment Day!
Today is World Environment Day, which is a day set up by the United Nations to raise awareness and encourage people to protect the planet. This year it is focusing on beating plastic pollution.
Plastic pollution is destorying our planet and the problem is at crisis point.
* 8 million tonnes of plastic ends up in the ocean every year
* That is enough plastic to circle the Earth 4 times every single year
* Plastic kills 1.5 million marine animals and birds every year
* By 2050 they have predicted there will be more plastic in the ocean than fish by weight
* Around the world 1 million plastic bottles are bought every minute
* 5 trillion plastic bags are sold worldwide every year
* 50% of plastic produced is only used once and then thrown away
With these daunting facts, its time to take action.
IF YOU CAN’T REUSE IT, REFUSE IT!!
The students in KS2 have been taking action by not bringing in plastic in their snacks today. We have also set up a competition whereby the children will be noting down each time they refuse single-use plastic and then the child that has refused the most plastic by 18th June will win a prize in the end of year assembly.
Now it’s time to do your bit. Help save the planet and refuse single-use plastic!
